Tonight On CTV News Toronto...

...are 2 separate but related stories by Dave Parsons. 1st was a shoot that began about 8 am at the Abilities Centre in Whitby. The staff there were hosting a strike camp because of the teachers being out of school and on strike for the day against Bill 115. It was nice to be shooting indoors, but that moved to Memorial Park in Oshawa where the actually rally was and where the march began from. I shot some clips, mostly speeches and some b-roll for the 6 p.m. news tonight on CTV!

Oshawa Generals for Rogers TV

The Oshawa Generals pulled off a thrilling 3-2 win over the visiting Belleville Bulls, who were with out their goaltender, Malcolm Subban, who was selected for the World Junior tournament. In broadcast related news, I was main follow camera for the game on Dec. 14 and was quite pleased with the level of professionalism I brought to the position. This was echoed by the producer, Scott Lindsay, after the game and during strike. I felt it was a well shot game from everyone's perspective and am happy with the results from my heavily used camera as well! I'll be back at it Sunday (Oshawa vs. Ottawa), perhaps in a different position, but gaining skills none the less!

CTV This Week

It was a fairly good week for CTV stories, one unplanned on Tuesday and one planned, Wednesday. The 4 car motor vehicle collision (MVC) was obviously the unplanned story of the week. One driver was hurried off to Lakeridge Oshawa while the other patients were treated for minor injuries on scene and released by paramedics. There was talk of bringing in Ornge air ambulance, but they were cancelled. My footage appeared on the 11:30 p.m. news.

Also appearing on the 11:30 news, just on Wednesday, was the annual, 13th in fact, THEE farmers parade! Farmers from Eastern Durham Region decorate their tractors and farm equipment for a parade through the streets of Tyrone, Hampton, Enniskillen and Enfield for the citizens of the communities. It is a thank you for sharing the roads during the busy harvest season, Spring through Fall.

That's all for now, but stay tuned for more Dave Parsons footage for CTV...
