Weekend Book-marked by Fatal Accidents

It was a difficult weekend in Durham Region, as Friday night a 68 year old woman passed away as a result of a motor vehicle collision at Dundas and Lakeridge. The driver of the other car was taken to Rouge Valley Ajax Pickering with serious injuries.

In between there was a rollover on a quiet North Oshawa street after a male driver struck a parked car with his SUV. There was an extensive extrication by Oshawa Fire and then patient care by Durham Region EMS. The male was transported to Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Additionally, on Monday, there was a call for EMS to respond to a 12 year old male who had an accident that is still under investigation. He was found without vital signs, was rushed to Lakeridge Health Port Perry but passed away because of the circumstances. He may have died after falling from the tree. DRPS are still investigating.

Pan Am Experience and News

So it has been a few weeks since I have been able to post, as I have been so busy working the Pan Am Games, specifically boxing and specifically ringside. The experience has been an amazing one, as I have witnessed several Canadians win gold medals in the ring. It was awesome to be able to be a part of putting on an amazing games, and despite just working at one venue, for one sport, I loved the experience I got and connections I made. To be part of the success of something massive and massively successful was great!

During the games, Dave Parsons Imaging was able to get out and cover a few breaking news events in Durham. July 18th was a busy day, as I covered 2 accident scenes. The first of the day happened about noon in Oshawa, where a DRPS cruiser was responding to a call, going WB on Adelaide when there was an accident involving a civilian vehicle. There were no significant injuries, however both cars were written off.

Later that afternoon, around 2 pm, there was a collision North East of Oshawa, at the intersection of Concession 7 and Enfield Rd. A motorcycle and an SUV collided, leaving the male motorcyclist in his 60s with significant injuries. He was rushed to Lakeridge Health Oshawa where he passed away as a result of the injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Here are photos of both incidents.

Grand Views on Grandview

Lately Grandview Street N. in Oshawa has been a hot spot for accidents. Dave Parsons Imaging was on scene of both a 3 vehicle accident that had an SUV roll onto its side. Also there was a SB van on Grandview near Rossland where a van lost control, took out several municipal service boxes before crossing several properties coming to a rest on a driveway/front lawn.

On the Go in Durham...

...it was a busy Tuesday night in Durham with one scene after the other. First, a young driver drove into a fence, over the patio, took out some decorations, patio furniture and planters before going back through the fence then came to a stop. When I finished that shoot I got back in the car and heard a call for Ornge to land at Anderson High School in Whitby. A male was struck by a GO bus on Dundas near Anderson in Whitby, transported to the high school by Durham EMS, where Ornge was waiting to take the male to hospital in Toronto. Photos of both the car through the fence and scene shots with Ornge and the GO bus are included.
